Trademarks Protection and Development of Industrial Production

Abstract:

The paper considers the use of data on intellectual property in economic research. It is shown that the indicator of applications and registrations of trademarks of residents and non-residents is important in analyzing the state of the economy. The protection of trademarks by non-residents is connected with the import of high-tech equipment. The growth of registration of trademarks by residents of the country, legal entities or individuals, indicates a revival of industrial production due to investment in the economy and is associated with the growth of value added in industry. The rise of industrial production further stimulates the implementation of scientific research and, as a consequence, leads to the growth of patented inventions. Russian companies are encouraged to register trademarks more actively, and economists should include this indicator in analytical reviews on the development of the national industry.
