Trends in Beef Production in Selected European Union in 2004-2018

Abstract:

The goal is to analyze changes in beef production in the European Union over a period of fifteen years (from 2004 to 2018). The analyzes concern, inter alia, trends in production volume changes, cyclical and seasonal fluctuations. The study uses data from the Eurostat database and extensions of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics - National Research Institute. Detailed analysis looked into the data on the volume of production throughout the EU and in the areas of available solutions available in this area. France, Germany, Great Britain and Poland were selected for analysis (first three and sixth place in terms of production volume in the EU). The share of these countries in the total volume of beef production in the EU-28 in 2018 was over 50%. In the analyzed period, beef production in the EU fluctuated cyclically with a general downward trend. There were also significant changes in the structure of this production. Seasonal fluctuations (during a year) in the various categories studied are significantly different from the point of view of their use compatibility, hence their extraction across the EU is somewhat difficult. Analysis of monthly data on the volume of beef production in the analyzed countries points to repeated systematically changes in these values on an annual scale.
