Trends in Environmental Management

Abstract:

The current trend in Environmental Management is no longer to correct existing damages, but to circumvent them and to find a way and resources as to how to support prevention. Normative rules are progressively being replaced by voluntary engagement and it is up to enterprises themselves, to decide to what degree they should engage themselves with the problems and issues of resolving environmental problems. This statement strengthens the voluntary activity image of the enterprise, increases profits, competitiveness – but equally, also reduces costs. This is also associated not only with the influence on the enterprise itself, but also on all interested parties, with whom the enterprise’s activities are associated – i.e. the “Stakeholders”, who influence the functioning of the enterprise to a significant extent. This contribution´s aim is to describe new activities in the field of Environmental Management; equally, to raise awareness of their substance and essence for individual stakeholders, oriented on the Environmental Management implementation system, and to point up observations from conducted research. All of the above-mentioned remarks will subsequently be evaluated in the final summary.
