Understanding Undergraduate Students’ Perceptions on Green University

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine the students’ perception on green university in Jakarta - Indonesia, from both university green practices and curriculum-related. We also compare the students’ perception in public and private university to examine whether there are any differences. We also include students from two majors, which are economics and business as well as engineering. We also compare economics and business perception with those of engineering students. The result shows that the students’ perception on the importance of green university is still limited. University sustainability practices are also still quite limited. There are differences in university green practices between public and private universities. We also find that the students’ perception on the importance of having sustainability-related materials in the curriculum is also limited, especially among private universities and engineering major.
