By analyzing recent public initiatives to spur both research in universities and mechanisms for university industry cooperation, authors use quantitative approach to assess university-industry cooperation for 6 public universities in the region of Tomsk, Russia. The limitations of quantitative assessment are argued, since the results of the study demonstrate only several dimensions of university-industry interaction. For multi-faceted analysis of university-industry interaction in depth qualitative expert study is required.
