Abstract:
Usability testing is a technique that has a huge impact on users ‘habits and expectations, besides being able to know the parts that require improvements that can increase the acceptance of the application and provided information. Thus, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the usability of ubiquitous Library (UL) Portal, specifically U-Pustaka service in Malaysia. An accurate and valid usability-rating model had been verified from various backgrounds of UL users using survey methods. Questionnaire study for 203 represented users was conducted via random sampling. Statistical analysis, which includes descriptive analysis, internal consistency tests, and factor analysis were carried out. The need to improve efficiency, effectiveness, learning capability, and satisfaction of the portal was identified for the usability and quality of UL portals. These dimensions remain innovative and highly effective multi-method approaches to portability assessment of portals. This research has the following significance and contribution from: (1) the findings will provide researchers, web contents designers and practitioners with some insights into the relative importance of each type of domains or criteria portal usability measurement. (2) The UL portal usability assessment model and the development of dynamic survey tools for the purpose of portal liberalization.
