Abstract:
Theorists of ethical leadership share the opinion that the problematic place in its definition is a leader´s normatively correct behaviour, which is determined by the situation, profession and culture. A case study is traditionally considered to be a suitable method for achieving didactic objectives in the area of ethical education. However, according to available information, the case study is now used in a wide range of disciplines for various goals, and the concept “case study” becomes semantically ambiguous. The aim of the article is to point out the differences in the understanding of this concept, to present the possibilities of using case studies for the development of ethical leadership in the process of tertiary education of military professionals (commanders and specialists) in three forms: as a qualitative research method, a didactic method and a method for collecting data to research the value orientation of the educated individuals. The article has a character of descriptive study. The main method for collecting information is a participant observation method. It was based on the long experience of the authors with the use of the case study method and in connection with handling the long-term project for organization development entitled “Development of Social Competencies of the Military Leader”. The text contains themes on how to work with the case study in ethical education when training professionals.
