User Acceptance of Technology: Oman Case Study on Determinants and Measurement Methods

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the determinants that affect users’ acceptance of technology in the workplace, particularly in Oman. The research also discusses numerous effective methods that are applied in measuring user acceptance. In order to achieve the research objectives a blind of research methods were employed including: distributing a questionnaire to users in many organizations in Oman, interviewing specialists in the IT field and some people from the management side. In addition, some observations were done on how users perceive technology and how they treat it. One of the main reasons of being resistant to accept the new technologies from the users’ point of view is that they are more familiar to the old technology and it takes time to learn how to use the new one. Furthermore, the factors which sit behind that can be educational, organizational or cultural.
