Abstract:

The existence of online database is, in fact, becomes one of the key elements to successfully reach the best performance in academic life either for students, researchers or lecturers. However, in developing countries, particularly in Indonesia, there are still several issues of online database usage particularly toward the user acceptance. Using a national survey throughout Indonesia and interviews with related policy makers, this study aims to find out the factors influencing online users acceptance, barriers the users face during the searching process. It also develops a user acceptance model of user behavior to support their academic performance which will be useful for modelling the similar topic in other developing countries. The application of TAM as theoretical basis and SEM for data analysis, the empirical finding will be significant for both users and policy makers in universities, libraries, or other related decision makers such as Department of Education.
