Using Information from Quality of Life Surveys for Sustainable Urban Development – Results of Empirical Studies

Abstract:

The aim of the study is to examine how municipal offices compile and analyze the results of quality of life surveys and how they use this information for sustainable development needs. Questionnaire surveys were carried out on a sample of 84 Polish cities of various sizes. Two research questions have been formulated on which the analyzes carried out were based. The obtained study results have been presented and discussed. Attention has been paid to compilation, presentation and analysis of the results of studies concerning quality of life. The decisions and actions that are taken based on the analysis of the results in the offices have been identified. The extent to which cities use the information obtained from the quality of life surveys for improvement and development has been determined. It has been confirmed that the average use of information by the largest cities is significantly higher than in smaller cities. A significant achievement of this study is identification of problems together with their causes that are present in municipal offices regarding the issues analyzed. The obtained information has been summarized and attention was paid to the research method limitations. Moreover, directions of further planned studies have been stipulated.
