Using Ontology to Support Enterprise Software Development Process

Abstract:

Studies have demonstrated that there is a relationship between knowledge management (KM) capability and enterprise software development process cycle (ESDP).  For an enterprise, making full use of enterprise knowledge to create economic benefits has become the key to further development. This research aims to objectively reflect and effectively enhance the capabilities of enterprises knowledge management and innovation.  Due to its complexity, managing ESDP related knowledge is crucial as it involves stakeholders, knowledge capabilities, and range of knowledge in managing organizational performance of ESDP.  One of the main challenges with regards to ES life-cycle is to provide an ef¬fective strategy to exchange knowledge formally or informally. The main objective of this research is to propose an ontology- based knowledge management framework which will support the integration of related resources, searching the accurate knowledge quickly, avoiding a large number of irrelevant knowledge and efficient flow of knowledge. By constructing this framework of Knowledge Management based on ontology for managing ESDP related knowledge, the development and use of ontology for supporting a range of knowledge management processes for the ESDP  lifecycle can be well understood and used to expand the development of appropriate applications that can be widely used in ESDP projects.
