Abstract:
Students’ skill in conducting experiment in real laboratory after the implementation of Virtual Chemistry Experiment (VCE) as pre-lab experience is expected to be increased after VCE gives them the chance to conduct virtual experimental training a couple of times without the limitation of space, time, and cost. This research was conducted to analyze students’ ability in conducting experiment on inorganic compound synthesis. This research was conducted by using compound approach with 50 students of Chemistry Prospective Teachers as samples. The research results show that VCE has supported around 78% of indicators of students’ experiment, with significant difference between classes with different treatment. However, in the skill of chemical manipulation and microscopic analysis, almost there is no difference. In other words, VCE can become pra-lab experience but it does not replace the real experimental experience. The further research is needed to be done to improve the quality of VCE design with other chemical experiments.
