Abstract:
This article focuses on the Czech water industry, namely on the financial efficiency of a selected distributor of water infrastructure. The efficiency of operating models is a constant object of escalating discussions, mostly in connection with the question if this network branch is more efficient as a private or public sector or rather in form of private or municipal operating enterprises. This question can be objectively answered e.g. via a detailed data analysis of financial efficiency of enterprises, their comparison, and subsequent regular benchmarking. To construct such a benchmarking model, it is crucial to choose (among others) appropriate financial indicators that take into consideration characteristic traits of network branches. The objective of the article is, therefore, to conduct pilot testing of a financial analysis of a selected operational enterprise for the 2012-2016 time period. This testing can then be used as material for assembling a complex benchmarking model.
