Web Usability: An Evaluation of the Governments’ Websites in Sabah, Malaysia

Abstract:

This study presents a research project on the evaluation of the governments’ websites in Sabah. The study has two aims. First, to evaluate some methods of the usability testing for the website, second, to evaluate the usability of the twelve chosen governments’ websites in Sabah. The applied usability evaluation methods were the heuristic evaluation and the user-focused evaluation by conducting in a laboratory with the actual users. The heuristic evaluation detected a vast number of usability problems. The laboratory test confirmed most of these findings as usability problems. The evaluation led to a re-design of the websites.
