What Drives Financial Slack In The Long-Run? Evidence From Emerging Economies

Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to identify the relationship between financial slack and financial performance and environmental performance in the short, medium and long-run, an exploratory study has been designed on a sample of Ecuadorian manufacturer companies over a period of 15 years, by means of hierarchical regressions, the short-, medium- and long-term, assessing the impact of financial slack on financial performance and environmental performance.

Cyert and March (1956) beginning the study about the slack resources and the importance in the companies, it was Bourgeois (1981) who established the line of this studies, in special about the concept and empirical analysis. This research is relationship with three theoretical approaches: the resource-based view, the Theory of Organisational Behaviour and the Agency Theory, in this context exist different works about the slack resources and the implication in the companies.
