Abstract:

This paper discusses the urgency to investigate the competencies required for facilities maintenance service provider to manage public hospitals in Malaysia.  Public hospitals are categorized as a high impact building and it also requires a strict service level agreement amongst the service providers. Thus, any fault done may bring consequences on human life. For the purposes of this study, the scope covered is facilities maintenance service provider only. The main function of a facilities maintenance service provider is to assist and facilitate the facilities of the hospital in achieving its objectives and goals. However, there are many arising concerns within the Malaysian public hospitals regarding maintenance issues.
