Abstract:
The authors analyzed the experience of developing microfinance organizations in order to support small businesses based on cases from the USA, France, Mexico, Japan and other countries. As a result, the main criteria for their differences are identified: mission, tools for supporting small businesses and the level of digital development. The authors propose, in the light of modern trends in the development of microfinance organizations, to identify 4 basic models for the development of microfinance organizations. A description and comparison of these models is provided. The conclusion proves the feasibility of using microfinance institutions as socially significant organizations focused on supporting priority groups of small and medium-sized enterprises, requiring special attention of the state and society, contributing to the growth of self-employment of the population, improving the quality of human capital and reducing social tension in society.
