Educational Innovation as a Solution to Educational Problems in the COVID-19 Era

Abstract:

The threat and consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic is the most significant economic, political, and social challenge today. Education is one of the areas of society that has been most severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Implementing innovative solutions, tools, and staff training is a lengthy process that had to be optimised to the necessary time minimum during the COVID-19 period. In the considered period of the pandemic in the Polish economy, we dealt mainly with spontaneous actions and often disturbed by the chaos of decision-making by the authorities. The aim of this publication is to analyse innovative educational methods and tools used during the COVID-19 in the Polish educational system, with particular emphasis on students' opinions. The biggest changes observed in the education process include the adaptation of many principals and teachers to a more modern approach and the construction of a digital school. Mobilising and finding resources to retrofit facilities with appropriate equipment and the Internet access. A major threat, however, is the lack of adequate motivation, experience and training for teachers and university lecturers, so that remote learning is not equated with sending students content and tasks to prepare on their own, instead of interactive exercises and presentations supported by systematic online contact with the trainer.
