International Migration of Health Workers due COVID-19

Abstract:

In the fight against COVID-19, radical measures are being introduced to social distance. People are encouraged but also forced to stay isolated at home. The borders have closed, but life in hospitals is experiencing trials for which no one has been sufficiently prepared. Large numbers of infected people come to the hospitals, it is necessary to take care of them. At the same time, to protect those who are in the hospital due to other problems and not to expose them to the risk of infection. We are also facing a major shortage of medical supplies and equipment. Medical staff, but also all people bring great sacrifice and we can call them modern heroes that we meet in action movies. There is a global cohesion and international migration of health workers. This opened up a new sphere that needs to be addressed urgently, namely faster and more effective integration of migrants who are willing to work, but a lengthy and often discouraging bureaucratic system does not allow them to do so. It is precisely in a situation of global threat, but also the number of statistics that have been published has shown that migrants are a common part of society and must be considered as an important and inevitable part of the labor market.
